Digital Transfers

Why use digital transfers?

Allowing brilliant, vibrant, full-colour images and logos of any size, digital transfers are our most popular print methods for situations where a high-impact design is required. With no minimums, high resolution prints and the ability to adhere to nearly any fabric from spandex "budgie smugglers" to waterpoof rainwear, digital transfers proudly claim the title of Mabuzi's most versatile print method.

Pro’s:

(+) Stunning high resolution prints can be achieved with this method.

(+) Photographic artwork reproduces perfectly via this method.

(+) Specialty medias available to suit your application needs: Stretch, Clear, Sublimation Blocking & more.

(+) This decoration method reproduces well on textured fabrics such as pique-knit polo shirts, and is suitable for nearly all fabric compositions (cotton, poly cotton, etc)

(+) Transfers are printed onto a white backing before being cut, allowing excellent colour vibrancy.

(+) Mabuzi choose to print all our transfers with environmentally-friendly Eco Sol Max inks.

(+) Transfers can be turned around exceptionally quickly for small orders.

(+) This decoration method can be applied to specialty products such as caps & visors can be printed in unique positions that other print methods cannot reach.

(+) Repeat orders (of the same design) do not incur setup fees. Once your artwork has been set up, we'll keep it on file indefinitely.

(+) BYO Garments or Mabuzi-supplied garments are both welcome for this print method.

Con’s:

(-) This print method is not as cost-effective for larger orders as the print process is more labor intensive than screen printing and other automated print methods.

(-) Due to the print & cut process, transfers cannot be cut exactly to the edge for artworks with rough or "grunge" outlines, or artworks that fade out into transparency. A bubble or bleed may be required.

(-) As transfers are all CYMK digital prints, exact colour matching is not possible.

(-) Some artwork may not be suitable for this print method as the required cutline creation is heavily dependent on the quality of the supplied artwork. Mabuzi reserve the right to refuse unsuitable artwork.

(-) This print method is best suited to artwork with smooth edges. Fine text and small details will require a bleed or bubble to make them possible & may not look ideal.

(-) Artwork approvals are only provided for orders over 15 units.

Digital Transfers are Ideal for:

Promotional Wear

Due to their rapid turnaround and fantastic high-resolution finish and vibrancy, digital transfers are our most popular choice for promotional campaigns. We've printed for Vegemite, Telstra, Trading Post, Disney, Mentos, Helga's, Nando's, Volkswagon, Renault & more.

Uniforms

For smaller businesses with full-colour logos, you can't go past a digital transfer. Where embroidery & screenprinting aren't possible (or cost effective) for your chosen application or order quantity, digital transfers are the perfect substitute! With the added option of printing small runs of 1+ units as you require them, Mabuzi has created uniforms for large and small business alike. Keep an eye out for our work over at Visions in Style, Hana Landscapes, Lochbuild & more.
Custom T-Shirts & More
With the ability to recreate photographic images in high-resolution (and with no minimum orders) digital transfers remain a popular choice for our steady stream of local artisans and their one-off t-shirt designs. Check out our Online T-Shirt lab & get creating today!

Garments for Printing:

Mabuzi offer printing onto a large range of items for varying budgets, which can be found in our Online Catalogue. All items with "digital transfer" listed as an option in the decoration field are available for this method.
Mabuzi also welcomes you to print in your BYO garments for all transfer print methods.

How it works:

Our production team carefully work on your artwork, manually adding a vector cutline to your artwork so that it can be read as the CAD plot line by our Roland Versacamm wide-format cutter/plotter.
Your artwork is printed out in high-resolution, precisely scored by our computer cut file and then weeded (by hand) by our production team.
The term "weeding" refers to the process of removing the scored-out excess "white space" in your transfer, by peeling away any details that are not required, such as the insides of letters and the background of the transfer.
Once the transfer has been printed, cut and weeded, it is then applied with an industrial heat-press to permanently affix the transfer to your garment.

4-Colour Process Printing:

A 4-colour process screen print is made up entirely, as the name suggests, of only four colours - Cyan Magenta Yellow and Black (CMYK) - and a white base underneath, if printing on a dark garment.
This printing process works around a similar method to an inkjet printer, which also uses CMYK colours only. Although only four colours are used, each colour (each screen) is printed as a half-tone print (very small, very fine dots).
When these tiny dots are viewed from a normal distance, they appear to the human eye to "blend" to form new colours; depending on the ratio of each colour to another.
This process is unique in that it allows an almost full-photographic image to be screenprinted, with only a small number of colours.
Please note, however, that 4-colour process printing is subject to your artwork. Some designs may be unsuitable for this type of print.
